Developing skills

Welcome to this weeks ramblings.

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by a lady in the USA named Elle who was interested in rings for herself and her partner but wasn't sure exactly what she wanted.

After quite a few messages back and forth we eventually came up with the design that you can see in the main pic for this post. It's based on the ever popular amazique and Welsh slate ring but with a twist. Instead of the Welsh slate in a centred inlay we will go with half the outside as amazique and the other half in Welsh slate. The wooden half will have a pyrography inscription in Welsh language, and each ring will be topped off with a centred birthstone.

This time last year I would have been pretty hesitant to take this on. Now though, I'm relishing the challenge, it's not easy by any means and one simple mistake can mean having to start all over again, but it shows how much my skills have progressed that I'm confident on this make.

I'm looking forward to sharing photos with you in the near future.

Year of the tiger

On a musical note..

One of my favourite artists Myles Kennedy has just released his first solo album. The fella has an amazing voice, writes fantastic lyrics and can play a pretty mean guitar as well. If you don't know him check out his band Alter bridge, they've got to be one of the most underrated bands out there at the moment and their live shows are something else. Carol and myself took our two boys to see them in Edinburgh last year and as usual it was an unforgettable night.

Anyway, here's the title track from his new album, I'd be interested to hear what you think, enjoy..
